About
Dr. Amin Amini was born in Tehran, IRAN in 1986. He graduated with a BSc (Hons) with Professional Development degree in Computer Science: Network Computing followed by a MSc degree in Data Communication Networks from Brunel University London. He holds a PhD and postdoctorate (postdoc) also from Brunel University London in Electronic and Computer Engineering where he researched on using 3D sensing and projecting technology to improve the mobility of Parkinson’s disease patients. He also holds several international certifications from leading IT industries including Microsoft and Cisco as well as a UK teacher training certification.
He is an assistant professor in Computer Science at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). He is currently the module leader for Computational Thinking and Investigating IT and support for Artificial Intelligence module across different programmes including Cyber Security, Computer Science, Computer Games Development, NETS+BAE Group and Software Engineering.
He was a Senior Research Fellow, team manager and technical lead for AI related projects funded by InnovateUK and Horizon Europe funding bodies at Brunel Innovation Centre – Brunel University London (BIC). His research at BIC is predominately focused on Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Vision and Image Processing.
He has won the Brunel IDEA project award in 2015 and cooperated with different health organisations including Parkinson’s UK and NHS. He is the author for several journals and conferences in the field of computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence, healthcare and biomedical engineering for high ranking scientific publishing bodies. He is also an academic reviewer for Nature, Sensors, IET and IEEE journals as well as a member of editorial board for the Journal of Rehabilitation Research.
Amin is a computer scientist with over 10 years of academic research. He holds several accreditations from leading IT industries including Microsoft and Cisco. He has published several journals and conferences in the field of computer vision, machine learning, AI, healthcare, and biomedical engineering. He is also an academic reviewer for Nature, Sensors, IET and IEEE journals as well as a member of editorial board for the Journal of Rehabilitation Research.
